New server room assures better service for insurers
"Comms Room Services have done an excellent job, under difficult conditions. The move from our old to our new location was expertly managed and our new infrastructure is greatly improved."
Vicky Bollands, Head of IT, Broker Network

Challenge
Broker Network, a membership organisation providing insurer and business services to independent insurance brokers, was moving from Harrogate to a new-build office location in Knaresborogh, Yorkshire. A new server room was required and then the infrastructure from the old server room had to be moved to the new room – all in the space of 24 hours.
Solution
Comms Room Services built a new server room in a building which was still under construction. The room, 6.8m x 4m in size, was built with 1-hour fire-rated concrete slabs to floor and ceiling. All walls were prepared ready for the main contractor to decorate and fit the main door and access control systems. A false ceiling and raised floor was also installed.
Power (15kva UPS), ceiling mounted air conditioning (2x14kw units) and cabling for the room and data cabinets (Medusa II double stack) was installed. Fire suppression and over pressure relief vents were introduced and an environmental monitoring system was configured for controlled shutdown, water detection and callout to key staff.
Benefits
Broker Network now has a new, state-of-the-art server room which is fully equipped to meet the needs of its new office in Knaresborough and to continue to provide high levels of service to its member companies.
